Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center is located in Shenzhen Airport New Town, which lies at the top of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and in the center of the Pearl River Delta and Guangdong Free Trade Zone. In 2016, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area accounted for 13% of national GDP despite only representing less than 1% of the country’s total land area and less than 5% of the total population. And its gross GDP has outshone that of the San Francisco Bay Area to reach 1.36 trillion dollars. In five years, the Greater Bay Area is projected to overtake the Tokyo Bay Area and become the world’s No.1 bay area, in terms of GDP. Airport New Town is positioned to drive Shenzhen’s future economic prosperity and development, and will emerge as a sub-city center and a first-class international airtropolis.
Shenzhen World will reach 500,000 m2 of indoor exhibition space once Phase 2 is complete becoming the largest exhibition venue in the world. Phase 1 will deliver 400,000 m2 of purpose-built and flexible exhibition and event space.The venue is designed with an organizing spine to connect 19 halls arranged symmetrically along a central corridor. The venue features two main registration lobbies directly connected to the subway, two VIP entrances to the west, plus the grand South Entrance. The two-level central corridor moves visitors efficiently from North to South with the use of people movers and travellators.
